 Ian Hurwitz is a 27-year veteran of the securities industry. Mr. Hurwitz believes that although nothing can replace experience, staying abreast of the ever-changing financial landscape is a requisite for success. As a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), he is one of a select few CIMA designees, including a number in Canada and Australia to have achieved this designation, which is conferred by the Investment Management Consultants Association and taught in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He also earned the Certified Investment Strategist (CIS) in the exclusive higher level program at the Stern School of Business, New York University and has also completed the Rice University CFP, financial planning certification education program.
 Born in 1959, he attended King David High School in Johannesburg, South Africa and was accepted into the accelerated law program at the University of Witwatersrand’s Law School. He immigrated to the United States prior to completion and embarked on a precious metal and foreign currency-trading path that led to becoming a futures specialist at Clayton Brokerage Co. of St. Louis, Inc. He joined Prudential Securities in 1981 and qualified as a Quantum portfolio manager in 1987, advancing to the position of First Vice President-Investments and Senior Portfolio Manager and continued in that capacity through subsequent mergers until he founded Hurwitz Associates in 2004.
